Gold Bars are sidequest items in Phoenotopia that can be bought in Atai City for a varying number of Rai. The price steadily increases or decreases each hour in real time and is calculated based on the date. This allows the player to earn money by buying low and selling high to make a profit. Due to a glitch due to the game development limitations, the Gold Bars are always sold for 100 Rai, thus allowing the player to theoretically farming up to 4999 Rai.
They are also given to NPCs in two sidequests:
- In the Crossroads Inn, an elderly woman will accept a Gold Bar after the player breaks her piggy bank. This also unlocks the Repentance achievement.
- In the Hidden Village, a Harpy who has a Moonstone will give it to the player in exchange for a Gold Bar.
